Third-party testing, also known as fairness testing, refers to an object other than two interrelated subjects, which we call a third party. The third party may be associated with two entities, or may be independent of the two entities, and is a third party (such as a full-time supervision and inspection agency) that is outside the interests of the sale and purchase, and is based on a fair and authoritative non-party status. Commodity inspection activities carried out in relation to laws, standards or contracts.

The third-party testing industry chain has a large coverage and the downstream demand is very extensive. Third-party testing refers to the third-party testing organization accepting the client's entrustment, comprehensively applying scientific methods and professional techniques to assess the quality, safety, performance, environmental protection and other aspects of a certain product, and issue an evaluation report. The upstream of the third-party testing industry mainly involves software services such as inspection and testing hardware devices and intelligent control systems, as well as chemical reagents and consumables required for third-party testing.

Third-party testing applications are extensive, covering a wide range of industries, including food manufacturing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, electrical manufacturing, automotive manufacturing, and industrial equipment. According to the different nature of the downstream demand areas, the areas that generate demand for third-party testing include life science testing (including the food and agricultural products inspection and testing, medical product inspection and testing, environmental quality inspection and testing, etc.), and consumer product testing (mainly including Baby products testing, textile testing, footwear testing, household appliances testing, furniture testing, automotive testing, jewelry testing, etc.), industrial products testing (mainly including petroleum gas testing, industrial materials testing, mineral products testing, chemical product testing) , electrical product testing, instrumentation testing and special equipment testing, etc.), construction engineering testing and inspection of import and export commodities.

Third-party testing institutions started late in China, basically after 2000. At the beginning of the 15th century economy in Europe and America, in order to ensure product quality, third-party testing agencies were involved. In the middle of the 19th century, it was common for mature third-party testing institutions to intervene in commodity testing, and it became a conscious commercial activity.
